Technology (IT) :: Microsoft |
|
|
There are three primary ways to
license Microsoft software. Determine which one of the
end-user license agreements best suits your customers'
needs.
-
Full Packaged Product (FPP)
-
Original Equipment Manufacturer
(OEM)
-
Volume Licensing Programs
(Open License)
|
|
Full Packaged
Product (FPP) |
|
Full Packaged Product
(FPP) is boxed, shrink-wrapped software. FPP is for
customers/users who are looking for a small quantity, fewer
than 5 licenses. Single user boxes are available under
Application and Systems software. Five user license
packs/boxes (1Svr.+5CALs) are available under server
software family. Deliverables under FPP are license and
media/CD. |
|
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) |
|
OEM software licenses
are acquired when you buy a computer with software legally
preinstalled. Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows® are
examples of this type of software. If you have ever
purchased a computer from the store with Windows installed,
you have acquired a license for OEM or System Builder
software. Deliverables under OEM are COA (Certificate of
Authenticity) and Media/CD. |
|
Volume Licensing (Open License) |
|
Microsoft Volume
Licensing programs may be the right choice for your
organization if you need multiple copies of Microsoft
software. Volume licensing is a flexible and economical way
to acquire from five to thousands of licenses for software.
After the initial order, customers can benefit from volume
pricing for all licenses for the remainder of the term of
their Open License authorization number. Microsoft Volume
Licensing programs provide potentially substantial savings,
ease of deployment, flexible acquisition and other benefits
such as Software Assurance.
Volume Licensing is available to Educational
Institutions, Corporate Segment, Government Sector and every
one who wants to acquire five or more licenses. |
|
Software Assurance
Offering with Volume Licensing
|
|
Software Assurance is an offering available with Microsoft
Volume Licensing programs that helps you get the most from
your software by providing greater value, assistance, and
manageability. Software Assurance also allows your
organization to acquire the right to use tomorrow's
technology at today's prices. Organizations with Software
Assurance coverage are eligible to use new versions of the
covered software that are made available during their term
